What Nobody Tells You About Building Alone

The broken auth flows at 1am. The payment integration that failed silently. This is what building actually looks like.

Nobody talks about the part between 'I have an idea' and 'it's live.'

Everyone loves the before and after. The idea. The launch. The traction. What gets skipped is the middle — which is 95% of the actual work.

What the middle actually looks like:

  • Broken auth flows at 1am
  • Payment integrations that fail silently
  • Confirmation emails going straight to spam
  • UI that looks fine on your screen and broken on everything else
  • Edge cases you didn't think of until a real user hit them

I fixed all of it. Alone. One bug at a time.

There's no shortcut through this part. You just have to sit with the problem until it makes sense. Google things. Read docs. Try something. Break it differently. Try again.

The thing nobody tells you is that this process — as frustrating as it is — is also where you learn the most. Every bug you fix teaches you something you'd never pick up from a tutorial.

Solo building is hard. But it's also the most honest way to find out what you're actually capable of.
